What is Pilates?
Pilates is a unique method of exercise that strengthens your core postural muscles. Developed by the late Joseph Pilates about 90 years ago, Pilates has revolutionized the world of fitness and exercise with his system that utilizes a spring-loaded system to provide both concentric and eccentric contractions of the muscles in a non-weight bearing setting. Strengthening the deep abdominal and the low back stabilizing muscles is encouraged through emphasizing a neutral spine and correct posture.
Pilates is an innovative method of mind-body exercise developed by late Joseph H. Pilates. Utilizing both floor mat and specially designed equipment. His innovative method of exercise educates the mind & body for neuro-muscular re-education, realigns, and balances the body for good posture. It promotes a balance of the musculo-skeletal system, with an increased flexibility, and joint mobility resulting in a toned body, with a taller and improved posture which makes it stronger and more attractive. Pilates offers a superior standard of kinetic movements that are physiologically sound. It teaches body awareness, good posture, and easy, graceful movement. Pilates further improves spine flexibility, joint mobility, and balance. It also helps alleviate back pain.
